How to ACTUALLY grow on social media

Good morning!

Welcome to Social Studies.

Here’s the agenda for today:

• What are you going to do about it?

• Build a content empire

The other night I was listening to a sermon clip.

It was unbelievable.

Jon Tyson is a master communicator and I was enraptured by his illustrations.

I called my wife into the room and had her listen to it too.

She patiently listened, but at the end her response wasn’t what I wanted.

I was expecting, “Wow that’s great! Thanks for sharing.”

Instead, she said, “What are you going to do about it?”

Huh?

I’m gonna listen to it. I’ll share it with you and maybe even post on social media about it.

“Sermons aren’t supposed to be entertainment,” she added. “They’re supposed to help you live more like Jesus.”

Oof.

I went back and listened to the sermon again and took notes, marking down where I could apply it to my life.

Let’s talk social media…

We can information/entertain/infotain ourselves to death.

It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine if we don’t actually apply it.

I really hope these emails entertain you.

I also really hope they teach you something new.

But even more…

I want these emails to help you crush it on social.

So…

Here’s your friendly reminder: An ounce of application is infinitely better than a pound of learning.
