Good morning to everyone who…
imagine this being read in the voice of a middle-aged, nondenominational pastor
Good morning! It’s so good to gather together as a community, isn’t it?
A special welcome to all of you who are joining us for the first time. We are so glad to have you! We hope you feel welcomed and cared for.
Let’s go ahead and dive into the message…
I love church. I used to work at a church. I go to church. But...
Sometimes churches can fall into the trap of being the exact. same. as. everyone. else.
If you've ever been to church, you've for sure heard an intro that sounds like one up above.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the intro.
But when everybody is doing it the same way, the wonder of the message starts to wear off.
Think about the first time you saw the tweet format "Good morning to everyone who...." or "Good morning everyone except people who...."
It was really funny, clever, and creative.
But now, it's been done so much that the punchline has to be INCREDIBLE for it to work.
So what's the takeaway?
There are two ways to crush it on social.
Do what your competitors' are doing, but much much better.
Do something wildly different than your competitors.
My belief is that No. 2 is the cheaper and quicker method.
Ask yourself:
How can I hit this message from a different angle?
What content format is missing in the market?
What does my audience care about that my competitors aren't hitting on?
