Rocket fuel for social growth

and other Tuesday musings

Welcome to Social Studies.

Regular newsletters are still (and always will be) free.

Social Studies PRO provides access to a constantly growing bank of case studies across brands and channels and networks.

See how social media pros have scaled their accounts from zero to millions of followers and how they're converting that audience to a positive ROI.

(Also includes access to our Slack channel so you can chat with pros who are in the trenches.)

Vista Social is my favorite social media management platform.

Features per dollar is unrivaled.

Rocket fuel for social media…

Episodic content is like rocket fuel for social media growth.

It completely flips the script of how organic social media works.

Instead of the brand fighting to try and get in front of the audience, the audience is continually returning to the brand to find their content.

Think about your favorite TV show.

You don’t need them to remind you that the next episode is about to drop.

You’ve got the babysitter booked, the couch cushions fluffed, and the takeout on the way.

You seek that content out.

Same with well-executed episodic content on social.

Example:

These social accounts are exploding.

Their “Spirit Tunnel” series is racking up millions and millions (and millions) of views.

These views drive profile visits, follows, and of course the ever allusive brand affinity.

Basically anytime there’s a guest on the show, the staff lines the hall way and sings/chants for the guest.

So in one sense, it’s completely predictable.

You (the audience) know exactly what’s about to go down before the character (celebrity guest) does.

But in another sense, it’s a complete and total surprise every single time.

The guests seem to have no idea that this is about to happen.

How will Jimmy Kimmel react? What about, Flavor Flav, Wayne Brady, or Jennifer Hudson herself?

If you’re like me, after watching a few of these you start to wonder…

“What would it be like if there was one of these for me?”

Well… wonder no more.

The incredible social team thought of that and made a video just for you.

So…

Can you book countless celebrity guests, hire a staff to line the hallway and sing for them?

Probably not.

But you can create content that draws the viewer in every single time and has them refreshing your feed, coming back for more.
